in and out of love ?

Singles have a reputation for falling in love quickly.   Statistics prove that the joy of a fast romance is often followed by the horrible pain of betrayal and rejection.  So, how can you keep your relationship from getting a speeding ticket?  We would like to offer 4 insights to consider:

Disclosure:  There's a balance between open, honest sharing and premature, deep disclosure.  Beware of going too deep too fast.  Speeders love to exchange stories of a painful past on first dates.  Speeders also like to declare their love early.

Time:  What's the rush?  The relationship is not yogurt that will expire if you don't consume it by the end of the month.  Slow down and pace the frequency and duration of dates, phone calls, emails etc.

Affection: Caution:  Physical affection is exhilarating and can catapult the relationship into illusions of compatibility and premature commitment without some pre-established boundaries.

Personal Wholeness:  Be aware of the "compulsion for completion" advises Dr Les Parrot.  Some singles have a great need to be in a serious relationship and feel incomplete without one.  They are addicted to the rush of "being in love" and will speed a relationship to get the "buzz."
